BGFIBank: a citizen group

Our societal undertakings As an accountable firm, BGFIBank undertakes to pursue growth policy in accordance with environment and human rights.

Our sustainable undertaking includes the following major areas:

The environmental area

In 2005, BGFIBank undertook a Voluntarist approach to sustainable development. The environmental aspect is taken into consideration in the firm project «Ambitions 2010» that determines conditions of the Group’s commitments to act as a citizen firm.

The Environmental Management system

Henceforth, the Group has set up an Environment Management System (EMS) that meets ISO 14001 standards according to FD X30-205 level approach. This system is aiming at controlling direct and indirect impact of the Group’s activities on environment and society.

CAP 2015

To tackle the environmental approach to the firm project Ambitions 2010, BGFIBank Group has recently stated that promoting sustainable development is a key factor to its development program through management capacities for the new firm project CAP 2015.

Membership to the UN World Pact

BGFIBank is the first company in Gabon to have ratified the United Nations World Pact in 2006 for ethical business cycle that respects environment.

Convention with WCS

In February 2007, BGFIBank signed with Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) a collaboration convention that finances, through BGFIBANK Foundation and on the scholarship basis, internship to excellent students throughout 13 national parks in Gabon.

In 2009, we supported trainees at the WCS Sub-regional Vocational School of La Lopé (CEDAMM) in Gabon to learn how to develop a community project and about environmental awareness or eco-tourist tour guiding. This new cooperation is aiming partly at supporting the rise of rural community activities based on national parks’ potential and partly at improving working conditions of rural population surrounding national parks especially in eco-tourist activities.
